Elevator Speech:
Twenty-first century learners have diverse needs. Class sizes are getting bigger and budgets are getting smaller, but with library-classroom collaboration, students are able to still get the valuable individual attention they need. Through collaboration, the librarian can help the teacher meet the unique needs of each student. Century Middle School's goals include boosting test scores and building strong community, well guess what? Collaboration is the key to raising those scores and so much more!
Together, teachers and librarians can open the door to learning for all students. We can create inquiry-based lessons and develop students’ critical thinking skills. What if I lead a professional development program for the faculty about the ways I can help with lesson planning, team teach research goals, and introduce new Web 2.0 technology tools? As a team, we can make cross-curricular connections and engage all learners. Please visit the library webpage to see concrete examples of collaboration in action or let's schedule a time for you to observe a lesson. After seeing all the evidence, you’ll see that collaboration is the key to success!
