Transcript of Elevator Speech

When teachers, librarians, and school administration collaborate, they create infinite possibilities to positively affect student achievement.
Librarians are educators who have additional training in the 21st century learning skills. Students need these skills to be successful now and in the future.
We all strive to improve student learning and exceed the level of rigor and relevance required by state educational standards. Librarians are experts in accessing, evaluating, and applying information. When librarians and teachers collaboratively plan and co-teach lesson plans, students profit from more engaging, comprehensive lessons at a higher level of learning. The variety both educators bring to the lessons, and the integration of multiple literacy skills engage students and provide deeper learning opportunities.
Studies prove that students benefit from technology integrated lessons. Librarians help administrators improve the quality of the overall instruction staff by offering in-service lessons on technology tools and collaborative lesson planning. Instructors then use these tools to present additional technology integrated lessons in the classroom.
Librarians also provide individual assistance to teachers and students by helping them identify and locate resources.
Finally, librarians work with all school stakeholders. They are in the unique position to reinforce the school's mission and goals.
Possibilities are infinite when teachers, librarians, and school administration collaborate.
